Force-controlled pin insertion

Force controlAssembly
White robotic arm in a clean environment

The challenge

Inserting pins into a conveyor chain designed for manual use, and therefore with no positioning repeatability.

The solution

  • Retraction control with force-sensor feedback to correct positioning uncertainty.
  • Compliant behaviour during insertion, adapting even to the most bent pins.

The result

A more accurate and effective process that overcomes the structural limits of the chain without modifying it.

Cobots adapt to the human layout, not the other way round.
